Review of LowePro 250 backpack from

Lowepro CompuDay Photo 250

Here’s a bag for photographers that not only features a pouch for your notebook, but one for your DSLR too. A zip on the side opens to reveal the dedicated snapper pouch, which takes up some room within the main compartment, but is easily squashed aside when there’s no camera in place.

The CompuDay Photo 250 has space for 15in lappys, which is quite remarkable considering its compact size. There’s also a convenient slot for tablets and a couple that are ideal for phones.

That’s just the main area too – there’s a secondary pocket with heaps of slots for tech, as well as a zip-pouch on the front. Construction feels of a high standard and with padded straps and backplate, it’s a very comfortable carry. As the pic shows, the backpack’ll even slot onto your suitcase due to its innovative design.

If you’re someone who often brings an expensive camera with you on your travels, then the CompuDay Photo 250 is a seriously snazzy backpack and for under £50, you can’t go wrong. By far my favourite here.

Photo shoot at Xscape, Retail sport experts

Ask the Xperts

Normally I take shots of pro models for Xscape fashion/sports shoots so it was great this time to get some 9-5 retail dudes in front of the camera as these guys are the Xperts and can offer REAL advice!

The shots can be seen on the Xscape web site here.

Here’s the blurb:

If you’re looking for specialist outdoor clothing then Xscape is the place for you, all our retailers have in-house X-perts in Skiing, Snowboarding, Cycling, Skate-boarding, Vision, Climbing, Hiking and more. Their knowledge will help you make the right purchase for your outdoor pursuit.

Photography workshop or tutorial in Leeds

Learning to get the most out of your Digital SLR

A friend of mine suggested the other day I should be imparting my genius photographic techniques and knowledge by the way of individuals who want to be introduced, or have their knowledge and passion for photography to be enhanced.

So what do you think?

Would an intensive or relaxed one day workshop, say in the studio or at a location be up your street, with catering included?

Or perhaps you would prefer one-to-one tuition at home or in the centre of Leeds city?

You might not know the relationship between your aperture and your depth-of-field. What lenses do I need for what type of photography, and is shutter speed something to do with me closing the blinds.

I can offer knowledge and excitement in the world of Photography to the absolute novice, amateur or right up to advanced studio practice.

So any thoughts, what would you like, let me know.

We have used Simon several times. Many photographers tend to be ‘tell me what to shoot and i’ll shoot it’, Simon however takes the time to understand your project and almost becomes a team member making useful suggestions and ideas. He’s skills as a photographer are undoubtable and he is always prepared to go that extra mile. I can’t praise him enough. – Tim Chorlton – Factory Graphics Leeds

I worked with Simon on a celebrity photo shoot for one of my clients. Neither myself nor my client were used to dealing with celebrities and Simon was excellent both in the build up and on the day. He went over and above the level of expectation and produced a perfect set of pictures. I would recommend Simon to anyone in an instant. Either to other advertising agencies or for personal work Simon is friendly, professional and produces superb quality photos. – Mark Mitchell from Stuart Hirst Agency

Simon did a studio based photo-shoot for me last week and I was more than pleased with the results. It was my first photo-shoot and he really made me feel relaxed and at ease. He is very passionate about what he does and this comes through in the effort he puts into getting the right shot for you. He worked above and beyond what was expected, and even stayed later than expected to make sure we got all the shots I wanted. It was a fun shoot with a great outcome, and Simon is so lovely to work with. I would recommend him to anyone and have already booked in for another outdoor session. I booked Simon based on the quality of the work displayed on his website and got much more than I expected. – Natasha Mattocks

Simon created some fantastic profile shots for us to use on our website, taken in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere at his studio. He was really flexible and we received the photographs extremely quickly. We look forward to working with him again to create our group shots! – Kylie Mather – TravLaw LLP Solicitors
